This update highlights the activities carried out in 2025 and the impact the project has had so far on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Biogas digesters help families reduce their dependence on firewood and expensive fossil fuels. Cooking with biogas is cleaner, faster, and prevents harmful smoke emissions inside the home. This improves the health of especially women and children. In addition, the bioslurry produced by the digester serves as a natural fertiliser that improves soil health, increases crop yields, and reduces dependence on chemical fertilisers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:31px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" data-src=\"https:\/\/fairclimatefund.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/51970814721_a2a62778b0_w-1.jpg\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24356 lazyload\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/fairclimatefund.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/51970814721_a2a62778b0_w-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fairclimatefund.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/51970814721_a2a62778b0_w-1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/fairclimatefund.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/51970814721_a2a62778b0_w-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Restoring existing installations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2025, the project focused partly on restoring and optimising existing biogas installations.\u00a0<strong>160 biodigesters were successfully repaired<\/strong>, allowing households to regain access to clean energy and extending the lifespan of the installations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:31px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainable agriculture with bioslurry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside clean energy, the project focused on strengthening sustainable agricultural practices.&nbsp;<strong>77 groups of smallholder farmers were trained<\/strong>&nbsp;in the use of bioslurry to improve soil quality and increase agricultural production. The trainings focused on crops such as beans, peanuts, maize, tomatoes, and onions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For dairy farmer Enock from Western Uganda, his biogas installation developed into a fully circular farming system. The manure from his cows is used both to generate energy and as a natural fertiliser for his land.
