The first solar-powered family car

Driving on solar energy has a bright future. This is proven by Solar Team Eindhoven, a team of 23 students from Eindhoven University of Technology. These students put their studies on hold for a year and a half to build the car of the future. The result is the Stella Lux, the world’s first solar-powered family car.

Solar cars are the future

According to the team, current cars have a negative impact on the climate. The team has used its knowledge, motivation and free spirit to contribute to a better and more sustainable future. They have invented a car, the Stella-Lux, that runs entirely on solar energy. The energy-positive Stella Lux is not only a solution for CO2 emissions from petrol, diesel and LPG cars. It also offers a solution for emissions from power plants and current infrastructure. The more people who drive on solar energy, the less use needs to be made of power stations.

Own responsibility

Because the team emits CO2 during the production of the cars, charging the cars and flying to international competitions, the team compensates these CO2 emissions at FairClimateFund by investing in climate projects.
