PLUS recently finished first again in GfK’s annual sustainability survey and was voted ‘Most Responsible Supermarket’. The supermarket chains were assessed by almost 5,000 consumers on nine sustainable aspects: Customers and society, Health, Sustainable trade, Climate, Local involvement, Fairtrade, Food waste, Animal welfare and Employees. This year PLUS scored a place in the top 3 on all 9 themes. PLUS scored a number 1 position with three themes, namely range of EKO/Organic products, environmentally friendly measures and information about healthy food.

PLUS has been the Most Responsible Supermarket in the Netherlands for five years in a row and since 2017 has been the first organization in the Netherlands to also use Fairtrade CO2 credits for the CO2 compensation of its 260 supermarkets. In addition, PLUS is introducing the very first Fairtrade and climate-neutral banana in supermarkets this autumn.
