Calculate carbon footprint
What is your carbon footprint?
Your carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases that you emit as a person or household per year.
We often talk about carbon dioxide or CO2, but there are also other greenhouse gases such as methane. Methane is a much stronger greenhouse gas (up to 25x stronger) and is released, for example, when fossil fuels are extracted.
FairClimateFund also takes into account the emissions of these and other greenhouse gases by calculating so-called CO2e values (CO2 equivalents).
Your carbon footprint is determined by various factors: consider electricity consumption, air travel, daily transport and purchasing clothing or items. An average Dutch household emits 20 tons (= 20,000 kilos) of CO2 per year.
In the graph on the right you can see the distribution of CO2 emissions of an average household. You can easily start reducing your CO2 emissions by eating meat less often, taking the plane less or no longer, or taking the train more often instead of the car.
You can also take responsibility for the carbon emissions that you are (currently) unable to reduce. These emissions have major consequences for people in vulnerable areas. Therefore, invest in fair climate projects.
Did you know that a return trip to Berlin by plane emits 240 kilograms of CO2? While a return trip by train only emits 40 kilograms.
Fund Fair Climate Action
FairClimateFund develops climate projects with a strong focus on social impact and fair income distribution. Our projects are therefore certified by the best standards, namely Gold Standard and – as the only one in the world – the Fairtrade Climate Standard. In our projects that are not (yet) certified by the Fairtrade Climate Standard, we always apply Fairtrade principles. Our projects also support various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Get your certificate
Have you invested in one of our fair climate projects? Then you will receive a personal certificate from us. This not only states your direct impact, but also which Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) you have contributed to. Show how committed you are to the climate and easily share your certificate via social media.
